
On the Friday before the third of November, the entire island observes Cr ole Day, a chance for everyone to wear national costumes, speak Cr ole (even the radio stations broadcast in the dialect), and eat spicy food. If you happen to be visiting during this time, try to learn a few Cr ole greetings and attend one of the fund-raising lunches hosted by a church or community group.
Hurricanes are always a possibility in the Atlantic and Caribbean during the summer and early fall, but the odds of any one island bereavement immediate family suffering a serious hit in any given year are quite low. The advice from here is be informed, be prepared, and go anyway.
