King Louis XIV presented the property to Philippe Devaux in 1713 as part of his land-grant program. The estate was developed into a thriving sugar plantation, and parts of it are still owned by the original family. You can visit the Botanical Gardens Monday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 3pm. Tickets are EC$10/US$3.75.
